The spring of 2005 brought abundant rains to Death Valley, resulting in the most spectacular wildflower bloom in decades. Several friends and I impulsively decided to make the long, long drive over a long weekend in late March, and were abundantly rewarded. An essay on this bloom, “Chasing Beauty,” can be found in the Travels section of this site.
